Asbury Park has long been a haven for live music, and with shows by Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famers, critical darlings and local heroes performing at iconic Asbury Park venues The Asbury Lanes, Wonder Bar and The Saint, the weekend of April 10-12 looks to be golden for live music fans. The legendary Stone Pony hosts Robby Krieger’s “Doors 50” show on April 10th following the 6:30pm screening of the Danny Clinch helmed “Bonnaroo Super Jam” short film featuring the Doors legend Krieger collaborating with EDM artist Shrillex.
Sprinkled throughout a weekend of films about and featuring music, after parties and shows featuring many of the festival’s decorated artists will be open to festivalgoers. On Friday night at the Paramount Theater, Rock n Roll Hall of Fame member Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and his son Dson will present their film, “DMC Squared” and will perform a short set of Run DMC classics with the son of the late Jam Master Jay, Xx. Friday also has Asbury Park Loves DC, which features an all star band of Asbury punk rockers led by Pete Steinkopf of the Bouncing Souls playing Washington DC punk classics.
