The inaugural Asbury Park Music in Film Festival (APMFF) unveils a jam-packed destination weekend of films and performances celebrating music in film, to be held April 10-12, 2015 in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

Asbury Park has long been a haven for live music, and with shows by Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famers, critical darlings and local heroes performing at iconic Asbury Park venues The Asbury Lanes, Wonder Bar and The Saint, the weekend of April 10-12 looks to be golden for live music fans. The legendary Stone Pony hosts Robby Krieger’s “Doors 50” show on April 10th following the 6:30pm screening of the Danny Clinch helmed “Bonnaroo Super Jam” short film featuring the Doors legend Krieger collaborating with EDM artist Shrillex.

Sprinkled throughout a weekend of films about and featuring music, after parties and shows featuring many of the festival’s decorated artists will be open to festivalgoers. On Friday night at the Paramount Theater, Rock n Roll Hall of Fame member Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and his son Dson will present their film, “DMC Squared” and will perform a short set of Run DMC classics with the son of the late Jam Master Jay, Xx. Friday also has Asbury Park Loves DC, which features an all star band of Asbury punk rockers led by Pete Steinkopf of the Bouncing Souls playing Washington DC punk classics.

On Saturday afternoon the 1pm matinee at Asbury Lanes features the after party for ‘Rye Coalition: The Story of the Hard Luck Five,” with performances by Rye Coalition off shoots, Cold Fur, Sunshine and The Rain, Thee Money Shot. Following it up that evening, The Stone Pony is the setting for “Funk That Bass,” the after party for the weekend’s feature presentation of “Jaco” by Metallica’s Robert Trujillo. The party will feature an all-star band of funk and rock heavies held down by funk pioneer, Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Jersey Shore native Bernie Worrell, singers Bernard Fowler (The Rolling Stones/Chic), Corey Glover (Living Colour/Galactic), Stax legend William Bell, Asbury Park soul legend JT Bowen (Clarence Clemons and The Red Bank Rockers) and Asbury Park’s own Nicole Atkins, Dean Ween (Ween) and musical director Marc Ribler on guitar. Recently added are Asbury Park’s finest on drums Sim Cain (Ween/Rollins Band), Steve Wolf (Alicia Keys), bassist extraordinaire Melvin Gibbs, Jack Daley, TM Stevens, and Metallica’s Robert Trujillo.
