Only 3 Days Remain to Register for 2015 Florida Senior Games
TALLAHASSEE – The deadline to register for the 2015 Florida Senior Games is Friday, November 20. Don’t miss out on the 24th Annual Olympic-style Sports Festival for athletes age 50 and over, to be held December 5-13 in Clearwater. The 2015 Games are the first venture into Pinellas County in the history of the event.
Registration is open through Friday for 24 sports of the Florida Senior Games and entry fees begin at $11 and vary by sport. . Visit www.floridaseniorgames.com to register online, take a look at the daily schedule of events and find out competition information for the individual sports.
While some sports of the Florida Senior Games require a qualifying performance at a Florida Senior Games Series Qualifier, there are sports and events that do not require a qualifying performance. Open sports include Archery, Bag Toss, Billiards, Croquet, Fencing, Lawn Bowls, Powerlifting, Race Walk, Racquetball, Road Race, and Volleyball are considered “OPEN” events. In addition, the non-ambulatory divisions of Bowling, Horseshoes and Shuffleboard are considered “OPEN” events.
The 2015 Florida Senior Games has been sanctioned as an “Official Centennial Event,” of the City of Clearwater’s celebration of its 100th birthday. The Clearwater Centennial commemoration is a year of celebration, reflection, and newfound appreciation of Clearwater’s most important cultural and historical treasures.
Over 1,300 of the expected 2,000 Florida senior athletes have already registered to compete over nine days of events in the Clearwater area. Since the Games inception in 1992, over 50,000 athletes have participated in the Florida Senior Games.
