EMERY MAKES A CHOICE — Grayson (Grey Damon) continues to seek solace from Emery (Aimee Teegarden) after the incident with his mother. Feeling guilty for her part in everything, Emery tells Julia (Malese Jow) she’s going to support Grayson during this trying time with his family, putting her relationship with Roman (Matt Lanter) on hold. Zoe (guest star Dora Madison Burge) sets a trap for Taylor (Natalie Hall) using black cyper, but Lukas (Titus Malkin, Jr.) is the one affected and is rushed to the hospital. When Roman realizes black cyper is involved, he and Drake (Greg Finley) try to find a cure for the deadly poison before it kills Lukas. REBEKAH’S PAST CATCHES UP WITH HER — When Rebekah (Claire Holt) finds herself locked up in the sanatorium where she worked in 1919, she realizes a witch named Genevieve (guest star Elyse Levesque) is back to seek revenge and to reveal dark secrets that would destroy Rebekah if exposed. A distraught Elijah (Daniel Gillies) turns to Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) for help when one of his decisions puts Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Rebekah’s lives in danger. With time working against them, Marcel realizes he may hold valuable information that could lead them to Rebekah and Klaus, but revealing it will almost certainly result in deadly consequences. Bellamy (Bob Morley) and his crew go hunting for food, and are joined by Charlotte (guest star Izabela Vidovic), a lovable 13-year-old, who feels safe under Bellamy’s protection. A thick, acidic fog appears, forcing Clarke, Finn and Wells to seek shelter inside an ancient van. While they are trapped, Clarke confronts Wells on his betrayal that resulted in her father’s death. Bonnie is intrigued with a fellow student named Liv (guest star Penelope Mitchell), who appears to be dabbling in witchcraft. After making a disturbing discovery, Stefan (Paul Wesley) has a frustrating conversation with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (guest star Michael Malarkey). Dr. Wes (guest star Rick Cosnett) struggles to continue his research project with help from a new benefactor named Sloan (guest star Caitlin McHugh).
