The Music of Bowie and Prince

CANTON, OHIO (September 20, 2016) – David Bowie and Prince are two of the greatest enigmas in pop music history.  Always unique, interesting and creative, their music continues to inspire.  The Canton Symphony Orchestra relives some of their musical moments and presents The Music of Bowie and Prince Thursday, November 10 at 8:00pm at Umstattd Performing Arts Hall (2323 17th Street NW, Canton).  The concert is presented with support from News-Talk 1480 WHBC and Mix 94.1.

The orchestra joins forces once again with a band from Jeans ‘n Classics, the same production team that partnered with the orchestra for the sold out Music of Queen concert last Spring. The set list includes Modern Love, Let’s Go Crazy, China Girl, 1999, and Baby I’m a Star.   The band includes vocalists, guitar, keyboard, drums and bass guitar.  Dr. Rachel L. Waddell will conduct the orchestra.  “We were really impressed with the musicians from Jeans ‘n Classics when we performed the Music of Queen concert in April,” notes Michelle Mullaly, President and CEO of the Canton Symphony.  “The combination of band and orchestra really evoked a unique and fun level of energy throughout the entire concert.”

A pre-concert “Rock Legends” party, hosted by WHBC, will take place at 6:30 at the Zimmermann Symphony Center (adjacent to Umstattd Hall at 2331 17th Street NW – Canton).  Attendees will enjoy food, a cash bar, a DJ, local personalities and giveaways.

Tickets for the concert range from $20 to $30 while tickets for the Rock Legends party are $15. All tickets are available online at www.cantonsymphony.org, by phone at 330-452-2094 or in person at the Canton Symphony Orchestra administrative offices in the Zimmermann Symphony Center at 2331 17th Street NW in Canton weekdays 9am-5pm.
