Summer Serenades in the Park Continue
CANTON, OHIO (August 6, 2015) – The Canton Symphony Orchestra (CSO) in partnership with the Stark County Park District (SCPD) will present three more Summer Serenades in the Park, a series of FREE concerts that began in June and runs to Labor Day 2015.  The series is sponsored in part by Mary Renkert Wendling Foundation, Fred and Virginia Olivieri, Canton Rotary Charitable Foundation, Medicine Center Pharmacy, Young Truck Sales, and Greenlines Trucking.

Two 45-minute performances will take place in August and feature an ensemble of four to five CSO musicians in a casual program of light classics, pops, patriotic, jazz and/or folk repertoire.   A full-orchestra pops concert in September will complete the series.  Concert attendees are encouraged to bring their own chair or blanket and picnic food.

On August 13, 2015 at 6:30pm a string quartet will perform at the David Fichtner Center (12833 Market Ave. N – Hartville).  Guests can enjoy a scavenger hunt with booths beginning at 5:30.  Concert attendees are encouraged to park at the Trailhead parking behind the Comfort Suites on Rt. 619 and walk the short trail into the park.  (rain date is August 14 at 6:30pm)

A woodwind quintet performs August 23, 2015 at 6:30pm at Minerva Municipal Park (next to Minerva High School at 501 Almeda Ave. – Minerva).  Stark Parks will provide a live animal display and guests can also enjoy an instrument petting zoo beginning at 5:30pm (rain date is August 25 at 6:30pm)

The series concludes September 6, 2015 at 6:30pm at Petros Lake Park (3519 Perry Drive SW – Canton) with a full orchestra performance.  The family-friendly concert includes activities for all ages beginning at 5 p.m. including a live animal display, games, and crafts.  Children are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animal for a “check-up” and “certificate of good health” from Stark Parks wildlife center.  Bring your favorite picnic food, games, and blanket or chair to enjoy the park setting and music (rain date is September 7 at 6:30pm)
