The Arts and Cultural Alliance presents the 17th Annual Principals’ Luncheon Sarasota County principals to gather for recognition of their school’s achievements in arts education.
Sarasota, FL – The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County (the Alliance) will hold its annual Principals’ Luncheon on December 6, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. The celebration’s theme is The Arts = Success and will honor Sarasota County school principals for their school’s achievements in arts education for the past year, including awards, performances, major projects and events, programs and more. The luncheon will focus on the arts relationship to college and career readiness and the creative economy.
The interactive event will feature performances by Booker Middle School VPA students and an exhibit of high school art and the 2017 World Rowing Championships/Embracing Our Differences art work. A film will be presented highlighting a panel of successful business leaders with arts backgrounds: Dr. Alyssa Shulman, Judge Charles Williams, Realty Executive Jennifer Putnam, and Architect Javi Suarez. A status of arts education in Sarasota County Schools will be also be presented.
The Principals’ Luncheon is made possible through the generous sponsorship support of philanthropist Gerri Aaron, the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, and Mattison’s. The Arts Education Task Force, a standing committee of the Alliance, is the organizer of the event. The Task Force is comprised of education professionals from over 30 Sarasota County arts and cultural groups and community representatives, who plan advocacy strategy, share information, and monitor the health of the arts in our schools. The Alliance convenes the group monthly. This year marks the 29th anniversary of the founding of the Arts Education Task Force. Nancy Roucher has been the chairperson of the Task Force since its inception.
