TEXAS RANGERS EXTEND PLAYER DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT

WITH SPOKANE INDIANS THROUGH 2016

ARLINGTON, Texas—The Texas Rangers today announced that the organization has extended its Player Development Agreement with the Short Season-A Spokane Indians of the Northwest League through the 2016 season.

The announcement was made at a late Tuesday afternoon media availability at Spokane’s Avista Stadium attended by Rangers President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Jon Daniels and Senior Director, Minor League Operations Mike Daly.

The Rangers have had a team in Spokane since 2003, matching Double-A Frisco in the Texas League for the organization’s longest minor league affiliation. The Indians, which are owned by Longball, Inc. with Principal Owners Bobby, George, and J.B. Brett, have won Northwest League championships in 2003, 2005 and 2008 as a Rangers affiliate. Spokane has also led the Northwest League in attendance each year it has been a Rangers affiliate.

Spokane is 37-32 overall in 2014 with seven games remaining in the regular season. The club clinched a playoff spot with a first half record of 25-13 and will host Game 2 of the NWL’s North Divisional Round on Wednesday, September 3 at Avista Stadium.
