Tom Schieffer to be inducted as 17th member of Texas Rangers Hall of Fame on Saturday, August 23
Arlington, Texas—The 2014 Texas Rangers Alumni Weekend will take place this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, August 22-24 when the club hosts the Kansas City Royals at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
The weekend will be highlighted by the induction of former Rangers President Tom Schieffer as the 17th member of the Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame. The induction will take place in a pre-game on-field ceremony prior to the Saturday game with the Royals beginning at 6:35 p.m. First pitch of the Rangers-Royals game on Saturday has been moved to 7:25 p.m.
Schieffer, whose tenure as the franchise’s chief executive was highlighted by his role in the building of a new ballpark in Arlington, was selected for the Rangers’ highest honor for his contributions to the franchise in a “non-playing capacity”, joining Johnny Oates (2003), Tom Vandergriff (2004), Mark Holtz (2005), Tom Grieve (2010), and Eric Nadel (2012) as Hall of Famers in that category.
In addition over 50 former Rangers players and coaches are expected to participate in the Alumni Weekend activities.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 22
Texas Rangers Dr Pepper Hall of Fame Luncheon, Arlington Convention Center, 11:30 a.m.
Program will include question and answer sessions with:
–Tom Schieffer and Chuck Morgan
–Richard Greene, Rusty Greer, Tom Grieve, and Ivan Rodriguez
–Eric Nadel and Matt Hicks
Dedication of Plaque to honor Joe Macko, 5:00 p.m.
The Rangers will honor longtime club employee Joe Macko with the dedication of a plaque in the service tunnel at 5:00 p.m. The plaque will be located across from the media elevator halfway between the home and visiting clubhouses, which Joe supervised for nearly 30 years.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 23
On-field induction of Tom Schieffer into the Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame, 6:35 p.m.
–Rangers Hall of Famers Rusty Greer, Tom Grieve, Toby Harrah, Eric Nadel, Ivan Rodriguez, and Jim Sundberg will be in attendance.
