Mark Snow to Be Honored by the Television Academy’s Music Peer Group
NoHo Arts District, CA (May 13, 2014) – For the first time ever, the Television Academy will present SCORE! A Concert Celebrating Music Composed for Television, on Wednesday, May 21 at 8 p.m. at UCLA’s Royce Hall.
Hosted by music author, writer and professor,Jon Burlingame, the program will feature original scores from over 50 of television’s most celebrated series, past and present. The evening will also honor 15-time Emmy®-nominated composer, Mark Snow (The X-Files, Millennium), with a Career Achievement Award presented by the Television Academy’s Music Peer Group.
“It’s said we are in the second Golden Age of television. But I think this is the Platinum Age and music is its emotional beating heart,” said Michael A. Levine, Television Academy Music Peer Group Governor and one of the executive producers of SCORE!. “There has never been such a confluence of so many great programs – and great scores – in the history of our medium. This concert showcases a small sampling of this outstanding work.”
Featuring a full, 67 piece orchestra composed of the industry’s top studio musicians and symphonic players, the 40 voice LA Chorus directed by Steve Lively, and iconic television themes conducted by the composers who wrote them, SCORE! is an unprecedented musical event.

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) is supporting SCORE! as the event’s exclusive performing rights organization sponsor. This year marks ASCAP’s 100th year of representing and protecting the world’s greatest music creators, including Mark Snow and the large majority of the composers participating in the SCORE! concert. ASCAP is supporting this historic event as part of its ongoing centennial celebration. The Guild of Music Supervisors is also working with the music branch of the Television Academy to support SCORE! and emphasize the important contribution of music in television storytelling.
