Pints for Play Breaks Records
SunCoast Blood Bank Announces Results of Blood Drive
Sarasota, FL – SunCoast Blood Bank (SCBB) broke their previous one-day record, when 608 units of blood products were collected on May 1, 2014 at the sixth annual Pints for Play blood drive. It was also a one-day giving record in the 65-year old history of the non-profit. “We didn’t know if it was possible to beat last year’s record of 584 donors, but we live in a very generous community and they came through in a big way for the blood bank this year,” said David Jones, co-host of the 107.9 WSRZ Morning Crew.
107.9 WSRZ and GulfCoastGood.org, an initiative of Gulf Coast Community Foundation, sponsored the event, which was hosted by The District at University Parkway. Anyone who donated blood or platelets was able to request any song, promote their business or receive a limited edition Tervis Tumbler.
“Summer is always a tough time of the year for blood collections, and we rely on Pints for Play to help boost our inventory as we enter the slower season,” said Jayne Giroux, director of community development for SCBB. Giroux also urges donors to remember that blood donations are critical year round.
