SUGARCANE JANE SOARS UP THE AMERICANA MUSIC CHART

~UPCOMING PERFORMANCE AT THE BRISTOL RHYTHM AND ROOTS REUNION~

NEW YORK, NY (July 27, 2015)—2015 has been quite the year for Gulf Coast-based Americana duo Sugarcane Jane. The team of Anthony and Savana Lee Crawford recently released their new studio album Dirt Road’s End (ArenA Recordings / eOne Entertainment). Not only has the album enjoyed immense critical praise, but it recently hit #40 on the Americana Music Chart, and #1 on the Roots Music Weekly Top 50 Folk Album Chart and Weekly Top 50 Alternative Folk Album Chart!
Additionally, “Ballad Of Sugarcane Jane,” “Heartbreak Road,” and “The Game” have all held positions in the Top 50 on the Roots Music Weekly Top 50 Folk Song Chart.
The chart success doesn’t stop with just Sugarcane Jane’s Dirt Road’s End. Dwight Yoakam’s gospel-tinged cover of Anthony Crawford’s  “V’s of Birds” from his recently released Second Hand Heart album also hit the Americana Music charts!
Purveying a rich, homegrown brand of Americana, Sugarcane Jane’s sound is nothing short of organic yet unique, infused with inflections of gospel, country, jazz, and rock – steeped in honest songwriting. Both virtuosos in their own right, Anthony (who has worked/performed with Neil Young, Sonny James, Steve Winwood, Vince Gill, and Rosanne Cash, to name a few) is a master songwriter who plays acoustic guitar, mandolin, and a bass drum or stomp box, while Savana Lee plays rhythm guitar, tambourine, and snare drum, in addition to singing.
Performing throughout the Summer/Fall, Sugarcane Jane’s fans in the Bristol, TN area should mark their calendars for their upcoming performance at the Bristol Rhythm And Roots Reunion, which will also feature Steve Earle & The Dukes, Delbert McClinton, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and Moon Taxi. The festival will take place in historic downtown Bristol, at 416 State Street. For more information, please visit bristolrhythm.com.

WHAT THE PRESS HAVE SAID ABOUT SUGARCANE JANE:

“Want some pound-on-the-dashboard tunes that are distinct from those that roll out of the Nashville hit factories? …How do two musicians pop up out of nowhere and create an album that deserves to be at the top of critics’ lists?… Bottom line: One of the best Nashville duos since Johnny and June.
-Washington Times
“ ‘The Ballad of Sugarcane Jane’ travels the road of touring musicians: the highs become a kaleidoscope that prisms the sunshine of today. The words reflect of the music, and the sound mirrors the players…Sugarcane Jane.”
-The Alternate Root

“Dirt roads end in a lot of places. Sometimes they just kind of peter out into an empty field. Sometimes the end of a dirt road offers the comforts of home and hearth. And sometimes, the end of a dirt road signals the start of a paved highway and whatever new adventures lie on the other side. Where the end of Sugarcane Jane’s dirt road is lies still ahead, but “Dirt Road’s End” is the kind of album that has launched many a regional act onto the interstate highway of national spotlight.”
“Their music might be categorized as Americana, but it’s both too diverse and too personal to fit easily within the conventions of that genre. It’s like they’re carriers of an old-soul strain of tent-revival folk, come to show the Americana kids how to really kick up some dust.”
-Mobile Press Register
“All in all, a highly likable outing.”
-Acoustic Guitar

“…This is one of the liveliest, most engaging Americana CDs you’re likely to hear this or any year.”
-Vintage Guitar

“Anyone looking for classic country and authentic Americana need to look no further than Dirt Road’s End.”
-Scene Magazine (London, ON, Canada)
Dirt Road’s End is a guidebook that simulates a fusion of past and present, as interpreted by two musicians blessed with a clear-eyed perspective and the ability to bring it all about.”
