STATEMENT FROM MAYOR RAHM EMANUEL ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
“International Women’s Day is a time of reflection but also a call to action to ensure that women and girls have every opportunity to fully participate in our prosperity. As a son, a husband, and a father of two daughters, I give thanks every day for the wonderful women that I am blessed to have in my own life. They inspire me as Mayor to continue making Chicago a city where every woman has a chance to reach their full potential.
We are a stronger city and a stronger country when women are able to reach their full potential. We have made progress, but there is more work to do. Today we are reminded to keep working together to ensure that women enjoy equal rights, equal wages, and equal respect. Until we achieve that goal, our work is not yet done.”
