Escorted day trips to Useppa Island: Get whisked away to this exclusive barrier island via a narrated cruise from Captiva. True Tours‘ Walking Tour of Downtown Fort Myers:Discover the unexpected history behind Fort Myers during a lively, 90-minute walking tour of the River District with True Tours each Wednesday and Saturday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Reservations are required and tour-takers should plan on arriving 15 minutes early so that they will have plenty of time to check in. The museum is housed in the former Atlantic Coastline Railroad depot at 2031 Jackson Street, one block south of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Paleo Indians, the Calusa, Seminoles, Spanish explorers and early settlers are just a few of the people you will meet as you view the Museum’s exhibits. An authentic replica of a pioneer “cracker” house, a 1926 La France fire pumper, and a 1929 private Pullman rail car are also part of the tour. In addition, the museum also houses an extensive artifacts collection detailing early civilization, the Fort, the first settlers, the cattlemen, turn of the century, the military and agriculture, boating and fishing industries in Fort Myers are highlighted as well as a display of 1,200 pieces of depression and carnival glass.
