New York, NY (July 2, 2014) – SomeKindaWonderful released their self-titled Downtown Records/White Clover Records debut album last week – June 23, 2014 debuting in the top 10 on the Heatseekers Chart. Their fast rising single, “Reverse” is approaching top 15 on the Alternative Chart and climbing and saw a 105% increase in sales this week, almost 30,000 total.
“Reverse” is a powerful tale of a love story told backwards, in reverse. Its haunting lyrics serve up an emotional cocktail of edgy cinematic alternative rock with nods to 60s soul and contemporary R&B. The song has been resonating with fans across the country and at radio where it has been getting big spins nationwide at over 40 stations including most played at KYSR/Los Angeles, KNDD/Seattle, KTCL/Denver, WLKK/Buffalo and many more. The industry has also been quick to take notice; Passion Pit remixed “Reverse” which Entertainment Weekly debuted here while Billboard Magazine recently featured the band in a “Bubbling Under” piece.
All great things considering “Reverse,” was a song recorded by chance and in less than three hours after SomeKindaWonderful unexpectedly met in a Cleveland, OH bar. The song now has nearly two million streams on Spotify, Pandora and Soundcloud. It was named “Best Song of the Year…This Week” on 98.7 in Los Angeles and landed at #8 on the iTunes Alternative Chart, Top 10 on Spotify’s Alternative Chart and Spotify’s Viral 50 Chart, with Spotify streams doubling each week.
After playing several sold out shows the last few weeks – three in Los Angeles, two in Santa Ana, and one in Santa Barbara, SomeKindaWonderful are heading back out on the road this July playing select shows across the United States including the band’s first ever show in New York July 14, 2014 at The Studio at Webster Hall.
