Marissa McGowan, Star of Asolo Rep’s Show Boat, Will Perform at the 2014 Annual Gala: A Night at the Rainbow Room

 
WHAT:           

Marissa McGowan, who played Magnolia in Asolo Rep’s 2013 production of Show Boat, will perform at this year’s annual gala, A Night at the Rainbow Room. The 2014 gala, emceed by Carolyn Michel and chaired by Chris Cogan, Carol Phillips, Nikki Sedacca and Nikki Taylor, will celebrate the splendor of New York City’s legendary Rainbow Room. Held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota, the event will benefit Asolo Rep’s 2013-14 season and its award-winning Education and Outreach programs. The evening will feature a seated dinner, paddle raise, dancing and live music performed by former Rainbow Room-headliner Michael Andrew and The Atomic Big Band. Ms. McGowan will perform two songs, including one number from Asolo Rep’s smash hit, Show Boat.

MARISSA MCGOWAN (Magnolia, Asolo Rep’s Show Boatrecently originated the role of Stella Purdy in the Marvin Hamlisch/Rupert Holmes musical The Nutty Professor directed by Jerry Lewis. Broadway credits include A Little Night Music revival with Catherine Zeta Jones and Angela Lansbury (Original Cast Recording), Bonnie & Clyde (Original Cast Recording) Les Misérables (Revival and National Tour) where she performed the roles of Eponine and Cosette. Favorite regional roles include Maria in The Sound of Music, Guinevere in Camelot, Philia in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Johanna in Sweeney Todd. Television: Major Crimes (TNT). She received her BFA from Syracuse University.
