Selah Freedom’s 3rd Annual Freedom Run Returns This October

Local nonprofit offers a unique racing opportunity to the community

Sarasota, Fla.—September 29, 2014— Grab your running shoes and head over to The John Ringling Causeway on Oct. 18 for a unique 5k/10k challenge! Selah Freedom, a local nonprofit dedicated to confront the issue of sex trafficking, is having their annual Freedom Run on Saturday, October 18 starting at 7:30 a.m.

This is a very unique event as it challenges participants to finish a 10k in one hour before starting with the 5k at 8:30 a.m. for a combined time. Runners (or walkers) have the opportunity to enter the 10k, and continue running to complete the 5k as a personal challenge. Starting at the John Ringling Causeway and finishing at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, participants will experience some of Sarasota’s most alluring attractions. The run was designed by an Ironman, specifically to be a challenge for the elite athlete. However, there is a normal 5k as well as a family fun run, so anyone—no matter their athletic ability, is encouraged to come out a support a great cause.

“We’re really excited to offer this great opportunity for runners as well as raise awareness of this great cause,” stated Elizabeth Fisher, CEO of Selah Freedom. “Competitive and leisure runners alike will love this event.”

The raised funds will be used for supporting Selah Freedom. The organization is growing and has recently built a new property which can house more women.
