Last week I had the chance to meet Mike Evanoff, proprietor of the nearby waterfront marina, restaurant, and pub that bears the Spanish Point name. I met Mike’s parents several years ago and am very familiar with their other local establishments such as Evie’s on Bee Ridge Road and the White Buffalo Saloon. I was happy to hear that the family had recently acquired Osprey’s Spanish Point Pub and Marina. Refurbishing and improving this favorite waterfront restaurant is Mike’s goal, and I expect some nice improvements while maintaining the Old Florida charm. The pub has been rebranded as Evie’s at Spanish Point Restaurant and Tiki.
Mike’s visit was prompted by his interest in learning some of the history of the marina, since it has been in business for decades. While we don’t have any pub related history in our files, I offered to ask our members and readers if they had any history or memories on this local landmark. So, with that in mind I am sending out this inquiry with the hopes that someone has some memories, photographs or any type of information about this local waterfront establishment.
History is recorded in many ways – what do you know about the history of the Spanish Point Pub and Marina?
