SCAT schedule changes effective April 16
SARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) is making minor changes to its system in North Port, its express bus service and other minor schedule adjustments that will take effect April 16.
The changes will affect Monday-Saturday routes 9, 10, 14, 20, 28, 29, 30, 80X, 90X, 100X, as well as the Sunday route 215S.
Some more details about the changes:
North Port local routes
Local routes 20, 28 and 29 are being consolidated; some service areas will be discontinued. Only the new expanded route 9 will serve Sumter Boulevard between U.S. 41 and Price Boulevard. The route 28 consolidation removes service from North Port Boulevard north of U.S. 41, Appomatox Drive and South Biscayne Drive from U.S. 41 to Elyton Drive.
Route 9 North Port/Venice will extend to North Port City Hall via Cocoplum and Sumter Boulevard. Connections will be available at City Hall SCAT Park and Ride to the new consolidated route 28 (Biscayne-Bobcat). Route 9 will no longer go into Shoppes of North Port and will stop along U.S. 41 in front of the Advance Auto Parts northbound and Burger King southbound.
Route 28 will be expanded to cover most of the areas currently served by routes 20, 29 and 28. These areas include: Toledo Blade Boulevard, the Glenallen section of North Port, the Health Department on Pan American Drive, the North Port Public Library, Shoppes of North Port and Cocoplum Village Shops.
Routes 20 and 29 will be discontinued and replaced by the reconfigured Route 28.
Express bus changes

Route 80X: The early morning northbound trip will depart City Hall earlier, at 6:15 a.m., to improve connections at Cattlemen Station. The late afternoon southbound trip will depart the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport earlier, at 3:30 p.m., so that employees along Knights Trail can reach their night shifts before 5 p.m.
Route 90X: The late afternoon northbound trip will depart the park and ride lot earlier, at 5:05 p.m., to assure that employees at Sarasota Memorial Hospital reach their night shifts on time.
