SAM SMITH’S VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE”
STARRING DIANNA AGRON AND CHRIS MESSINA PREMIERES ON VEVO
SMITH NOMINATED FOR TWO 2014 MTV MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS;
FEATURED AS VEVO LIFT ARTIST FOR AUGUST
HOLLYWOOD, CA – A video for Sam Smith’s new single, “I’m Not The Only One,” starring Dianna Agron (Glee) and Chris Messina (The Mindy Show), premiered on Vevo only one week ago and has already amassed more than two million views. Culled from his chart-topping debut, In The Lonely Hour (Capitol Records), the Luke Monaghan-directed video explores the hidden secrets and emotional turmoil behind a relationship, centered around Smith’s moving lyrics.
“This video for me is the best one we have done to date,” admits Sam Smith. “I had so much fun making this video with Luke, Diana and Chris, and I am just overwhelmed that we managed to visually capture the emotion in the song so honestly and so truthfully.”
Smith’s follow-up single comes on the heels of his double platinum-selling “Stay With Me,” that currently sits at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100, while In The Lonely Hour continues to chart in the Top 10, currently at No. 7, on the Billboard 200. This debut broke records when it debuted in the U.S. at No. 2 on June 22, and gave Smith the title of having the highest first week sales for a UK male artist in the soundscan era.
This August, Smith has been selected by Vevo, the world’s leading all-premium music video and entertainment platform with over 5.5 billion monthly views globally, for its emerging artists program, LIFT. Fans can visit VEVO’s apps, VEVO.com and syndication partner web sites for the opportunity to get to know the artist through exclusive interviews, performance videos and behind-the-scenes footage.
Additionally, Smith has been nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards in the categories of “Best Male” and “Artist To Watch.” The “2014 MTV Video Music Awards” will be broadcast live from the Forum in Inglewood, CA on Sunday, August 24th at 9pm ET/PT.
The record-setting first-week sales figure for Smith’s U.S. debut reflects the British artist’s burgeoning popularity on this side of the Atlantic. A forthcoming North American tour in September has completely sold out, including two shows at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, two shows in New York City and the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
