Rising pop singer/songwriter Alexx Mack released the video to her new single “Whatever I Want” today via Stereogum – PRESS HERE to watch. The highly-anticipated follow up to her 2015 critically-acclaimed debut EP, this video exhibits a departure from the party girl we first met. “Whatever I Want” offers a window into the reality Alexx was living over the last year dealing with major heartbreak.
“While I was writing ‘Whatever I Want’ I had this visual in my head of a couple fighting in their bathroom. The song sounds so hopeful, but I really wanted the video to decrypt the meaning behind the lyrics,” said Alexx. “Love can go from something so beautiful to something so toxic in an instant. Sometimes what we want isn’t what’s right for us, and that’s truly what the song is about. I am so excited that Noel my director shared the same vision as me. Everyone that was a part of the video wanted to create something so genuine and honest for our audience.”
Alexx Mack’s infectious songs and powerhouse vocals burst onto the pop scene with the release of Like We’re Famous in October 2015. Her carefree, exuberant musical style, which blends elements of pop, alternative, electronic and dance garnered high praises from the likes of SPIN, Billboard, Noisey, Idolator, Paper, Buzzfeed + more; has been featured on BBC Radio 1, SiriusXM; and popular shows including Freeform’s hit “Pretty Little Liars” and HBO’s “Vice Principals.” In addition to preparing her next release for 2017, Alexx had a busy year including her SXSW debut and supporting LGBT rights through performances at west coast Pride events, including Orlando Pride and San Francisco. Alexx also collaborated with DJ/Producer John Dahlback on his club rager “Count To Ten” (Armada Records), and recently leant her glossy vocals for DJ/Producer GOLDHOUSE’s single “Pleasure.”
