Registration for 26th Annual Gulf Coast Senior Games ends Feb. 1

SARASOTA COUNTY – Register now through Feb. 1 for the 26th Annual Gulf Coast Senior Games, which take place Feb.17-22 at venues throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties.
The two counties hold the event in conjunction each year as an effort to promote and maintain health and wellness for their residents who are 50 years and older. The Gulf Coast Senior Games is also a local qualifier for the 2015 Florida Senior Games State Championships that are scheduled to be held in Clearwater, Fla., Dec. 5-13.
Some of the events offered at this year’s Senior Games include:
  • Tennis, shuffleboard and horseshoes
  • Basketball shooting, archery and pickelball
  • Swimming, bowling and racquetball
  • 5K road race, golf and cycling
To register for the Gulf Coast Senior Games, visit parksonline.scgov.net or fill out and send in the official entry form to Gulf Coast Senior Games, 2650 Waldemere St., Sarasota, Fla., 34239. Entry fees are $12 per participant, with an additional fee of $3 per event to compete. Some events such as archery, bowling, golf and tennis have an additional fees. Each participant is given a t-shirt as part of their registration fee, and the deadline to register is Feb. 1.
