Gearing up for the September 4 release of their new full-length album, WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW via PiL Official, the pioneering U.K. group’s own label (distributed by Red Eye in the U.S.), PUBLIC IMAGE LTD have announced they’ll return to North America for their first show in three years, a special performance at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans, LA on Halloween night, Saturday, October 31.

The 11-track WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW… follows the huge critical success of 2012’s ‘This is PiL’, the band’s first album in 17 years.  In her review for NME, Lisa Wright, described lead song off WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW, “The first taste of the record comes in the form of ‘Double Trouble,’ and it beats just as uncompromisingly to its own drum as you’ve come to expect from the man known as Johnny Rotten.” (July 6, 2015) Last month, the band premiered the video for “Double Trouble.” Watch the clip on YouTube (here), and listen on Soundcloud (here).  Fans can pre-order WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW… on iTunes to receive “Double Trouble” now as an instant download (here).
Widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential bands of all time, PUBLIC IMAGE LTD’s music and vision earned them 5 U.K. Top 20 singles and 5 U.K. Top 20 albums. With a shifting line-up and unique sound, JOHN LYDON guided the band from their debut album First Issue in 1978 through to 1992’s That What Is Not. After a 17- year hiatus, in 2009, LYDON reactivated PiL taking them back on the road worldwide. Last year, the band returned to Steve Winwood’s Wincraft studio in the Cotswolds (U.K.) to record the new album WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW… which is set for release on September 4 worldwide.

JOHN LYDON: After fronting the Sex Pistols, John Lydon formed Public Image Ltd in 1978.  Outside of PiL John has released several solo records and collaborations. He also brings quality TV to the masses and has recently released the autobiography ‘Anger is an Energy: My Life Uncensored’.
LU EDMONDS: Multi-instrumentalist and former guitarist in The Damned, Lu joined Public Image Ltd in 1986 recording and playing on the album ‘Happy?’ and co-writing the  album ‘9’, adding yet another dimension to the Public Image Ltd sound.
BRUCE SMITH: Drummer in The Pop Group and formerly of The Slits, Bruce became percussionist for Public Image Ltd in 1986 playing and recording on the albums ‘Happy?’ and ‘9’. Seen as a drumming virtuoso, Bruce brought his unique style into the fold.
SCOTT FIRTH: A bass player/multi instrumentalist that has collaborated and played with a variety of top musicians and bands including Steve Winwood, John Martyn and Elvis Costello.
PUBLIC IMAGE LTD will launch their U.K./Europe tour on September 18, before heading to North America for a special performance at Voodoo Music + Arts Experience  in New Orleans, LA on Halloween night, Saturday, October 31.
