Brooklyn-based psych-rockers, ZEBEDEE, share their new EP, Fancy Seeing You Here, now out everywhere, after being exclusively available on Bandcamp. The four fuzzed-out tracks follow in the wake of stand-alone single, “Messy Boy.” The latest songs show how the music has evolved and how the band continues to “dangerously flirt with the edge of madness (The Deli NYC).” With hard hitting drums, grungy guitar tones and a flurry of fluttering vocals that harken back to the early days of Tame Impala, the new tunes show inspiration from Kurt Vile and Queens of the Stone Age with their jet-fueled but quirky vibes.
ZEBEDEE’s lineup of musicians (Victor De La Garza, Michael Benham, Kelsey Van Mook, Stephen Chen, Devin Calderin and Zebedee Row) recorded the EP across borders from Brooklyn to Mexico City, lead by studio manager and engineer, Rafael Durand in Mexico City. The EP was then taken to Erin Tonkon, a young, passionate, Brooklyn-based producer/mixer who studied under Tony Visconti / worked on David Bowie, who added her keen ear to implement some original idea’s to help elevate the single. The next stop was Electric Blue Studios in Park Slope for mastering, where the tracks were delicately worked by Brian Wenckebach.
Originally from Australia and now based in Brooklyn, frontman Zebedee Row (guitar/vocals) might be a familiar face from his acting career, especially from his role as Robert Plant in HBO’s series VINYL. He also recently played Dua Lipa’s love interest at the dive bar in her official video for “Don’t Start Now.”
Kelsey Van Mook from the band also might be recognized (especially for those in NYC, who have likely seen her modeling prowess on the side of several buses), is a top model, managed by NEXT Management. She moved to NYC by way of Vancouver at the age of 16 and since has worked with all the top designers (Karl Lagerfeld, Donna Karen, Oscar de la Renta) and photographers (Bruce Webber, Patrick Demarchelier, Stephen Miesel) to name a few. |
