THE PLAYERS THEATRE LAUNCHES “CALL TO ACTION” ENDOWMENT CAMPAIGN
Sarasota, March 19, 2014 – In November 2013, The Players Theatre was awarded the designation as a Cultural Sponsoring Organization by the Florida Department of State which has paved the way for The Players to commence an Endowment Campaign. Such a designation provides the opportunity for the theatre to be eligible to qualify for and potentially receive a State Matching Share. The Players Theatre has launched a “Call To Action” Endowment Campaign to raise the funds. The overall goal is to raise over $5 million dollars over the next 10 years for The Players Cultural Endowment Fund with an immediate need to raise $360,000 to qualify for a potential State Match of $240,000.
“We have a great fundraising plan in place with activities and events to increase awareness to our patrons to support this new initiative,” said Leona Collesano, Chair of The Players Board. “The funds will ensure financial stability for The Players well into the future for the next generations to enjoy quality live theatre, performance opportunities and stellar educational programs.”
The Players Theatre is Sarasota’s first and oldest performing arts organization, and the second oldest in the State of Florida. The theatre provides vital training for over 300 students ages 3 and up through The Players Performing Arts Studio. The theatre also serves a diverse audience of 75,000 patrons annually and offers a Broadway Theatre Series, a SNAP (Something New at Players) Series, a Summer Sizzler Series, a New Festival, Concerts, and a Backstage Theatre Series.
