Trip sponsored by Cholula Hot Sauce includes Rangers-Dodgers game on Wednesday

Arlington, Texas–Twenty students and five teachers from Dallas Pinkston High School’s just keep livin program will travel to Los Angeles this week after winning a month-long competition between area high schools.

Pinkston and the other high schools that participate in the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation’s just keep livin program, Sam Houston High School in Arlington and Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth, competed in the contest that tallied points for attendance, community service hours, and race participation at the Dallas Rock ‘N’ Roll Half-Marathon on March 22.

The trip is presented by Cholula Hot Sauce, the Official Hot Sauce of the Texas Rangers and the only hot sauce found at Globe Life Park in Arlington. The Pinkston group will fly to Los Angeles on Southwest Airlines on Wednesday morning and return to Dallas on Friday morning.

Activities will include attending the Rangers game with the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, when the group will meet Prince Fielder prior to batting practice. Also on the itinerary is visit to the University of Southern California with tours of the school’s music and athletic facilities and a beach trip with yoga classes and other activities. The group from Pinkston will be joined by students from the Los Angeles- based just keep livin programs.

In May 2011 the Rangers Foundation announced a partnership with Matthew McConaughey and his just keep livin foundation to create an after-school program centered on nutrition, exercise and wellness for local students. In the first four years of the Texas Rangers just keep livin program, nearly 90% of the student participants have shown marked improvements in their academic performance and attendance. The students have successfully completed half-marathons and numerous 5ks throughout the community.
