ONE BIG SCREEN, TWO EVEN BIGGER SHOWS!
Sony Centre For The Performing Arts presents
GLADIATOR LIVE and
DISTANT WORLDS: music from FINAL FANTASY
On December 5th and 6th, 2014, the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts presents GLADIATOR LIVE and DISTANT WORLDS: music from FINAL FANTASY respectively.
GLADIATOR LIVE, co-presented with Attila Glatz Concert Productions, will receive its Canadian premiere on Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Sony Centre. Gladiator, the five-time Academy Award-winning historical drama starring Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix, will be screened in high-definition on a 40’ wide screen with the original dialogue intact. Replacing the recorded score will be a live performance by the Motion Picture Symphony Orchestra, accompanied by the Tallis Choir of Toronto and the virtuosic voice of Clara Sanabras, conducted from the stage by Justin Freer.
With the premiere of GLADIATOR LIVE in 2013, musician, conductor, composer and record producer, Justin Freer, founded CineConcerts, a company dedicated to the concert presentation of film and TV music. “It puts the talent of the soundtrack composers into real perspective. Every emotional wave that you are carried upon is driven not just by the storyline and acting but really steered and led by the purity and immediacy of the music.” – Huffington Post UK
The next day, on Saturday, December 6, 2014, DISTANT WORLDS: music from FINAL FANTASY will make a triumphant return to the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts. Since its 1987 debut the FINAL FANTASY franchise has sold over 110 million copies worldwide and has become the most recognized role playing game in the world.
Conducted by Grammy Award-winning conductor, composer, and record producer Arnie Roth, and featuring award-winning music and scenes from over 25 years of FINAL FANTASY, DISTANT WORLDS: music from FINAL FANTASY combines live orchestral music–performed by a full symphony orchestra, accompanied by the Tallis Choir of Toronto, and featuring special guest vocalist, Susan Calloway, the voice of FINAL FANTASY XIV theme song “Answers”–with cutting edge videos and art stills of the games most memorable sequences on a 40’ wide screen, projected entirely in HD! Having scored the majority of titles in the FINAL FANTASY series, Nobuo Uematsu has become one of the most respected composers in the video game community and will also be in attendance Saturday night. And as always: Cosplayers are welcome!
Fans of GLADIATOR LIVE and DISTANT WORLDS: music from FINAL FANTASY will also be excited to hear that STAR TREK (2009) WITH LIVE ORCHESTRA will also be coming to the Sony Centre in the new year.
