NEW YORK, NY (February 25, 2014) – Wind-up Records and New Orleans’ own The Revivalists will re-release their City of Sound album on Fat Tuesday, March 4, 2014. The two-disc set will include eight live bonus tracks (track listing below) from various sold out shows from the Fall of 2013. The album was produced by Ben Ellman (Galactic, Trombone Shorty) and recorded under the guidance of Grammy Award-winning engineer/producer Chris Finney (Dr. John, R.E.M.). Beginning today, USA Today is streaming the entire two-album set for the week leading up to the release day. Listen to it HERE. Pre-orders are available for purchase now along with exclusive merch bundles (including band signed posters, special t-shirts and more) through the band’s online store HERE. “Our fans have been asking us to put out live material for the last five years,” said singer David Shaw. “We were playing and touring so much, we didn’t have a chance to record anything that lived up to our expectations until this past year. After we signed to Wind-up and started talking about re-releasing City Of Sound we jumped at the opportunity to include these live tracks for free. It gives our fans a chance to go back and listen to the album but now they get a bit extra with it as well.” The Revivalists have been playing nonstop since 2007, playing sold out shows across the country as well as becoming a must see band on the festival circuit. The band is on tour now and will play Mardi Gras, SXSW (schedule will be announced this week) and multiple festivals including Tortuga, Counterpoint, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage, Joshua Tree, Blackstock, Wakarusa, Electric Forest and more. They also co-headline a tour with Moon Taxi beginning April 3, 2014. All tour dates are listed below. Last year The Revivalists played featured slots at Bonnaroo, Jazz Fest, Voodoo Festival, Governors Ball, The Hangout Festival, Mountain Jam and many more. The Revivalists recently performed “Concrete (Fish Out Of Water)” when they were featured in the fourth and final season of HBO’s acclaimed drama series “Treme” in an episode called “Sunset on Louisianne” which aired December 22nd. The performance took place at the Always Lounge in NOLA where Davis McAlary (played by Steve Zahn), a part-time DJ, aspiring songwriter and music scenester goes to see them perform. The Revivalists craft a genre-hopping sound that rounds out traditional rock instrumentation with horns and pedal steel guitar and mixes the divergent backgrounds of its individual members with the humid, funky undercurrents of the band’s New Orleans home. The result is like English spoken with an exotic accent: familiar, yet difficult to pin down. Religion aside, a revival is all about the tangible electricity that can only be created when enough like minds are crammed whole greater than the sum of its parts. The Revivalists are David Shaw (Vocals), Ed Williams (Pedal Steel Guitar), Zack Feinberg (Guitar), Rob Ingraham (Saxophone), George Gekas (Bass), Andrew Campanelli (Drums) and Michael Girardot (Keys/Trumpet). |
