Nature Connects: LEGO® Brick Sculptures Opens Sept. 30
Cape Fear Botanical Garden To Host 3-Month Installation
Greater Fayetteville, NC – Inspired by nature and built from nearly half-a-million LEGO pieces, Nature Connects LEGO® Brick Sculptures will be installed at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden from September 30, 2016 through January 8, 2017. Larger-than-life sculptures such as a tiger swallowtail butterfly, an 8 foot hummingbird and a 7 foot rose will be installed in related areas of the Garden.
“Pairing this exceptional display of LEGO brick sculptures with the beauty of the Cape Fear Botanical Garden creates a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors and families,” says John Meroski, Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (FACVB) President and CEO.
For nearly a decade, artist Sean Kinney has been turning ordinary LEGO bricks into works of art. Sean was the first of now only 13 LEGO Certified Professionals worldwide. His work has been featured in major media from The New York Times to BBC News. A self-described “professional kid,” Sean uses his LEGO bricks to create things that connect to the larger world.
In addition to the sculptures, Nature Connects will include educational activities for all ages, hands-on LEGO brick building stations and design competitions. The exhibit will be open during regular Garden hours and included in the prices of admission. Hours and Admission Prices.
