The EP features five tracks – three brand new songs, including the title track; “All I Want,” which has racked up over a million streams and earned Mason an early fan in Demi Lovato; and the stunning “Shade of You,” lauded by Idolator as “an unassuming, catchy slice of mature pop.” Technicolour showcases Mason’s pop songwriting sensibilities alongside her undeniable self-awareness and lyrical maturity, and serves as the perfect introduction to this artist to watch. Born in Dallas, Texas, Daniella Mason grew up moving around the world with her missionary father. She traveled everywhere from Central and South America to Europe and Africa, finally settling in Nashville about ten years ago. With a love for and background in musical theater, she began writing and recording her own music at the young age of 15, first finding her voice as a singer and songwriter and gradually transitioning into the electro-pop vibe of Technicolour.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, Daniella Mason started her own label to begin releasing music independently. Her song “All I Want” was the first to make an impression, garnering a tweet from Demi Lovato that led to an explosion in plays and even had Mason joining Lovato as part of her Neon Lights tour in 2014. Her next release “Shade of You” landed a coveted spot on the iTunes front page, topping the platform’s “What’s Hot” section and earning press love from the likes of The Guardian, Idolator, and Billboard. Most recently, Daniella Mason even co-wrote and featured on “When We Get Home” on the latest Nick Jonas release.
Following this success, Mason caught the eye of major and indie labels alike, finally signing with Warner Bros. Records. Technicolour delivers on that promise with a distinct, indie-pop sound that brings to mind alternative heavy hitters like Léon, CHVRCHES, Ellie Goulding, and Låpsley, with a strong lyricism and maturity at the core.
Daniella Mason will play a record release show at Nashville’s Mercy Lounge next Wednesday, August 17. Stay tuned to Daniellamason.com for further dates and news to come.
