The Naples Concert Band (www.NaplesConcertBand.org) recognized its student members and announced its annual scholarship recipients at its Sunday, March 1 Concert in the Park. Victoria Carmen, ABC-TV 7 Sports Anchor, served as this year’s celebrity guest presenter.
Since the scholarship program’s inception in 1984, the Naples Concert Band (NCB) has awarded $101,100 to 95 students, many of them winning multiple awards. Scholarship recipients are chosen by a committee and five requirements are considered, including participation; musical proficiency; grade point average, character, and integrity; school and community service; and seniority (number of years in the NCB).
The 2015 Naples Concert Band scholarship recipients are as follows:
• Alan Davis, Naples High School, Percussion
• Hannah Wiley, Gospel Baptist School, Flute
• Katie Kirstein, Marco Island Academy, Flute
• Emiliano Izquierdo, Palmetto Ridge High School, Percussion
• Luvan Gato, Golden Gate High School, Clarinet
• Caesar Maldonado, Golden Gate High School, Clarinet
• Ivan Gato, Florida Southwestern State College, Trombone

The Naples Concert Band is a non-profit organization dedicated to entertaining the community with enriching Sunday concerts in the park. The Band’s 43rd season expands upon last season’s record breaking performances.
