Realize Bradenton’s free outdoor concert series is back with more live music on Bradenton’s downtown Riverwalk.
(Bradenton, FL) The music is back! Bradenton’s Riverwalk becomes the beautiful backdrop once again for inspired live music when Realize Bradenton’s popular “Music in the Park” series returns on March 1. This free, eight-concert series is March 1-April 11, at the Riverwalk, 452 Third Avenue W., in downtown Bradenton. Food and beverages will be available for sale and guests can bring their own picnics. Audience members are also encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.The series was made possible, in part, with support from the Bradenton Downtown Development Authority and The Patterson Foundation. “Our Music in the Park series offers an exciting and diverse spectrum of musicians and groups,” says Johnette Isham, executive director of Realize Bradenton. She adds that the program, now in its second year, has expanded from four concerts to eight. “We’re also delighted to partner with The Patterson Foundation’s Legacy of Valor campaign, which honors veterans and their families,” she says, explaining that two of the events, a concert by the Manatee Concert Band and Music and Movies in the Park, are part of this series.
“From the stirring patriotism and Americana of “The Second Time Arounders Marching Band” to Bryan Spainhower’s unique blend of jazz, rumba and rock and roll, we’ve got music that will delight most tastes,” says Isham. “Bring the whole family and enjoy Florida’s fabulous spring weather!”

Manatee Concert Band
The 2014 “Music in the Park” series kicks off with a lunchtime concert by the Manatee Concert Band, a community band comprised of musicians of all ages and abilities, from high school band members to former professional musicians. This special patriotic concert is part of the Legacy of Valor, The Patterson Foundation’s campaign to honor the service and sacrifice of the men and women in our nation’s armed forces. Friday, March 7, 6-10 p.m. § Riverwalk Pavilion
Music and Movies in the Park with the Sarasota Pops and followed by a screening of “Kelly’s Heroes”
The Sarasota Pops, the community orchestra of Sarasota and Manatee counties, will perform a concert of music honoring veterans from all American wars. The program will include music from “The Patriot,” “Saving Private Ryan,” and “Platoon.” Actor Jason Cannon of Florida Studio Theatre will narrate Aaron Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait,” and the Pops Orchestra will also perform Christopher Tucker’s 2008 march, “Valor of the Multi-Corps National-Iraq,” honoring those who have served in the global war on terrorism. Following the concert is a screening of the 1970 war comedy “Kelly’s Heroes.” This event is part of the Legacy of Valor, The Patterson Foundation’s campaign to honor the service and sacrifice of the men and women in our nation’s armed forces. Scott Blum and Friends
Percussionist Scott Blum and his quartet bring their special mix of jazz, swing, pop, show tunes and big band favorites to the Mosaic Amphitheater. The group will pay tribute to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr., with a selection of songs made famous by the legendary Rat Pack. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Possibly the largest adult marching band in the world, St. Petersburg’s Second Time Arounders Marching Band will rally Bradenton’s Riverwalk with an evening of stirring patriotism and Americana, along with plenty of visual effects. Guitarist Brian Spainhower has melded a blend of “Nuevo Flamenco,” jazz, rock, fusion and country music to create his own very unique sound. Spainhower joins forces with Max Kelly on percussion and Doug Koernke on the fretless bass, performing as the “Combo Vimana” with a program that is sure to have the Music in the Park audience tapping its toes and bopping to the beat.
