The CHRIS ROBINSON BROTHERHOOD is currently touring in support of their third studio album PHOSPHORESCENT HARVEST. Acclaimed Canadian singer/songwriter/storyteller DEL BARBER is touringin support of his new album, PRAIRIEOGRAPHY. Hailing from the Canadian Prairies, PRAIRIEOGRAPHY—released in the U.S. on April 15 via True North Records—is born out of a love for BARBER’s home, its people and their stories. A Juno Award nominee and winner of the Western Canada Music Awards’ “Independent Album of the Year” and “Roots Solo Recording of the Year,” the new album is an earnest and moving travelogue of a wandering troubadour, blanketed in warmth, subtle textures and true-to-life imperfections. Produced by BARBER and his trusted steel player Bill Western, they used digital and analog recording techniques to channel the classic records of past heroes while still standing firmly on his own. There is an unexpected blend of old-time country and Cajun boogie on “Living With A Long Way to Go,” however BARBER maintains his characteristic storytelling style with “Farewell, God Bless You, Goodbye,” a story about a young man trying to escape the hum of the city. “Walking In A Straight Line,” written in the present tense, chronicles a trip he took to the Yukon from Winnipeg via the Rockies. On “All That it Takes,” BARBER enthuses, “Sometimes three chords and a light heart are enough to make a good song. We really wanted to incorporate a few songs, like this one, on the album that would lean on heavy grooves and simple soul-driven rhythm sections.” BARBER released his first album Where The City Ends in 2009 and tours North America heavily. Citing such influences as Dwight Yoakam, John Prine and Ian Tyson, BARBER has emerged as one of the next wave in Canada’s proud tradition of songwriting talent. With PRAIRIEOGRAPHY, he has created a resonant collection of subtly poignant songs delivered with emotional heart.

Heralded by the Village Voice as “one of the best live dance acts on Earth,” THE CRYSTAL METHOD—Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland—have been known for over a decade for their enduring dance floor anthems (“Now Is The Time,” “Keep Hope Alive”), airwave smashes (“Trip Like I Do”) and a willingness to collaborate with an array of talent–-including rock’s elite like Scott Weiland, Matisyahu, New Order’s Peter Hook, Emily Haines of Metric and Filter’s Richard Patrick. The duo has dominated the remix, film soundtrack, television, gaming and advertising worlds, most recently helping Victoria’s Secret drop jaws with music for a TV commercial campaign and collaborating with soundtrack heavyweight Danny Elfman for several contributions to Hollywood blockbuster Real Steel. THE CRYSTAL METHOD were recently featured in RE:GENERATION, a documentary film directed by Amir Bar Lev (My Kid Could Paint That, The Tillman Story) and produced in association with The Grammys that looks at the history, songwriting and studio process of different musical genres through the eyes of five of the most influential electronic producers/DJs in music today including Mark Ronson, DJ Premier, THE CRYSTAL METHOD, Pretty Lights and Skrillex. In the film, THE CRYSTAL METHOD team with Detroit Motown legends Martha Reeves of the Vandellas and The Funk Brothers to create the R&B horn sassy and down-bass “I’m Not Leaving.” Their most recent album, the Grammy-nominated Divided By Night, was released in 2009.

Celebrating 20 years as a band, THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT—Bill Nershi (guitars and vocals), Michael Kang (mandolin, violin, guitar and vocals), Keith Moseley (bass), Michael Travis (drums and percussion), Kyle Hollingsworth (keyboards and accordion) and Jason Hann (percussion)—has just released their first studio album in nine years, called SONG IN MY HEAD. Released April 29 on SCI Fidelity Records/Loud & Proud Records, SONG IN MY HEAD was produced by Jerry Harrison of the Talking Heads and includes 10 new songs written by the group. The album is perhaps the band’s tightest and most skillful yet and has received critical praise since its release. Formed in the Colorado mountain ski towns of Crested Butte and Telluride in 1993, the now Boulder, CO-based band has played over 1,500 shows over those years, including their own festivals and happenings across the country and have been hailed for their commitment to musical creativity and integrity, community spirit, philanthropic endeavors and their innovative approach to the business of music.
