MOVIE EXPERTS AT REDBOX SHARE TIPS FOR

PREDICTING THE ACADEMY AWARD® WINNERS

Hint: Watching the Nominated Films is Pretty Important

Chicago (January 24, 2017) For the first time, the Movie Experts at Redbox, America’s destination for affordable new-release movie and game rentals, today shared tips for predicting the winners on OSCAR NIGHT®.

The Movie Experts—Lori Flynn, VP of Content; Eric Litynski, Director of Purchasing; and Joe Killian, Director of Purchasing—have racked up 75 years’ combined experience in the movie industry. They’ve watched, critiqued and often enjoyed well over 15,000 movies in their lifetimes.

  1. Find the Movies

Now that the nominees are announced, make a list of the ones you still need to see,” said Lori Flynn, VP of Content. “Many of them are still in theaters, but you can save a lot of money by renting others for as low as $1.50 a night at Redbox.”

  1. Make a Plan

Get your friends involved in the fun leading up to the big show,” said Eric Litynski, Director of Purchasing. “Host an OSCAR® Nominee movie marathon at your house with your friends. Print out the award categories to track your favorite movies, actors, actresses—all the way to score and special effects. Don’t forget the popcorn!”

3. Watch Carefully

Having seen all of the nominees this year, my biggest tip is to keep the award categories in your mind as you watch,” said Joe Killian, Director of Purchasing. “When a number of elements work in harmony, such as breathtaking cinematography, music that draws you closer and costumes, hair and makeup that take you to a different era, a film is likely a contender to win Best Picture. But in other cases, a film may be a complete standout in one of those categories.”
