MAYOR GARCETTI, CITY OF LOS ANGELES, AND “THE NEW 9TH” PRESENT #TECHLA @ CICLAVIA
Los Angeles–Mayor Eric Garcetti and Councilmember Curren Price are proud to present #techLA @ CicLAvia during this weekend’s open streets event in South Los Angeles. The interactive hub will showcase technologies being developed here in Los Angeles, offer free introductory sessions on web-design and coding tools, and an interactive “treasure hunt” to digitally map the many cultural assets that can be found along the CicLAvia South LA route.
“Technology is one of the most dynamic and exciting sectors of LA’s economy today,” said Mayor Garcetti. “As mayor, it’s my job to ensure that all Angelenos can access the opportunities and benefits provided by the technology revolution happening our city. The #techLA hub won’t just show off the latest and greatest in technology products — it will provide introductory training to anyone with an interest in learning the skills required to operate in today’s tech world, as well as fun opportunities to explore the cultural history of South Los Angeles.”
“I am so excited to welcome the #techLA hub to our community,” said Councilmember Curren Price. “This great event will help give local residents hands-on access to the technological skills and programs they need to be successful in today’s digital economy while also highlighting the work of a growing crop of tech-focused organizations operating right here in South LA, helping to cement our efforts to create a vibrant ‘Silicon South’ that expands job opportunities for our diverse community.”
The #techLA hub will be located between 42nd Pl. & 43rd St. on Central Ave on the CicLAvia route.
CicLAvia is the premier open streets event in Los Angeles. This Sunday’s event marks the 11th CicLAvia and the first in South Los Angeles.
