The inaugural M.A.R.S. FESTIVAL (Music & Arts ReSound) will take place Friday, April 14 through Sunday, April 23, 2017 in Downtown Los Angeles at Angel City Brewery and Art Share L.A. Tickets are on sale now at festivalmars.com, with many events being available for free (details below).
This new 10-day festival will expand audience’s imaginations via never-before-seen pairings of music, art, fashion and dance. The festival’s programming features performances from over 35 local and internationally established contemporary musicians (ensembles, composers, and experimental bands) and artists (performance and visual).
Festival headliners include the Los Angeles-based Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, International Contemporary Ensemble (makingtheir Los Angeles-debut and only local appearance of the year), composer/performer collective Ensemble Pamplemousse, and the newly-formed M.A.R.S. Collective (a fluid ensemble consisting of local contemporary musicians showcasing a style of new music specific to Los Angeles and the festival). Full list of artists confirmed below.
“Through technology, human beings are more connected on a global level than ever before,” M.A.R.S. Festival Executive and Artistic Director Mak Grgic shares. “M.A.R.S. was born out of a need for a global interactive artistic platform, where different arts are paired and explored on a grand scale and everyone is welcomed. M.A.R.S. offers an insight into art reflecting the swooshing tempos of today – left, right, up and down. This is possible through cool new technologies of virtual reality, artificial intelligence, plus creative and interactive programming. We aim to give performance art a new spin – that of freedom of choice as to the place and time of events, looking beyond traditional venues in favor of exploring less conventional spaces. Eventually, everyone will be able to plug into a platform, where a performance is happening, just like in a matrix, but from anywhere and anytime. M.A.R.S. is what the future brings to the arts.”
