Lois & The Love PREMIERES NEW SINGLE “PINOCCHIO” ON NOISEY

DEBUT ALBUM LOVE IS LOUDER OUT THIS SUMMER (YEBO MUSIC)

Set to Make SXSW Debut

“Already draped in hype, Lois & The Love have a dark, intense sound. A little like PJ Harvey’s more direct moments, or even the ballad-inspired side of Nick Cave…” Clash Magazine

Behind their disarmingly slick exterior, Lois & The Love devote themselves to a unique crossbreed of synth-shot, grunge elements like Atari Teenage Riot, and razor sharp pop hooks like Florence and The Machine. Today, the London four-piece premiere their heart-thumping single “Pinocchio” on Noisey PRESS HERE TO LISTEN – and announce their forthcoming, debut album Love is Louder will be released this summer on Yebo Music.
Since forming in 2012, Lois & The Love have made waves within the music scene with just three singles – “War,” “Rabbit Hole” and “Dark Serenade.” They’ve earned the likes of Clash Magazine and Amazing Radio, been praised by several Hype Machine blogs, gave a solid performance on Hunger TV, plus supported The Libertines’ gargantuan show at London’s Hyde Park last July. Then toured the UK with Carl Barat & The Jackals this past fall.
The summer of 2014 saw band members Lois Winstone (lead vocalist and songwriter), Dean Sharp (guitarist), Oli Longmore (bassist) and Eddie Banda (drummer) at the grindstone, working on the debut album. They recorded the LP in El Mirador, Granada and mixed and mastered the project in London. Killing Joke’s Youth helmed the production, drawing out the band’s tendency for goth-toned edges of new wave. Their tunes pump out solid, synth-stained grooves à la early Yeah Yeah Yeahs or The Gossip. The LP features “Denial,” which is similar to a Marc Bolan glam-stomp, rock tune, while “Hold On” is the record’s Bowie-inflected endnote. These twelve tracks give off a sense of unbridled euphoria and speed, but are nonetheless grounded firmly by Lois’ strong songwriting ability and are fueled by her gritty, fearless vocals.

“Working with Youth was a tripped-out, psycho-sensual and spiritual experience to say the least,” says Dean. “The biggest influences behind the record are early ‘90s grunge, The Strokes, Blondie, Soixie Soux and the Banshees – as well as a lot of different post-punk and disco records, garage rock – but Youth also got us listening to some kraut rock, which was the inspiration ‘Carpet Burns.’”

Lois & The Love will also be making their SXSW debut at this year’s festival. Live the band goes out of their way to deliver an intense performance. Front and center is Lois captivating the attention of the audience. She hypnotizes the crowd with her confident, yet unpredictable nature like fellow musician Courtney Love; while she commands the stage by belting out notes similar to the vocal range of Ann Wilson of Heart. Look out for more tour dates to be announced soon via www.loisandthelove.com.
