LIVE STREAM METALLICA’S IN-STORE PERFORMANCE AT RASPUTIN MUSIC IN BERKELEY, CA ON FACEBOOK LIVE THIS SATURDAY AT 4:00 PM PST
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – APRIL 14, 2016 – Grammy® Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees and 2016 Record Store Day Ambassadors Metallica are set to perform live at Berkeley, CA’s legendary record store Rasputin Music this Saturday, April 16th in celebration of Record Store Day 2016.
While a few lucky Met Club members and Rasputin customers have won tickets to see the rare in-store performance in person, fans from around the world will also be able to join from the comfort of their own living room via a Facebook Live stream on the band’s page (www.facebook.com/metallica). The band will hit the stage around 4:00 PM PST and will be celebrating the releases of the remastered reissues of Kill ‘Em All and Ride The Lightning.
Metallica is no stranger to Record Store Day, a special day in support of independent record stores and record store culture worldwide, now in its ninth year. Metallica’s support through out the years has been more than noteworthy with in-store appearances, (remember Mountain View, CA Rasputin Records in 2008, when the band met their fans for hours to kick off the very first Record Store Day) and a healthy handful of special releases. In fact, members James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo made big news just last year when the band’s cassette-issued demos collection, No Life Til Leather, ended up as Record Store Day 2015’s highest seller. As well, Trujillo’s lauded biopic, Jaco, about legendary bassist Jaco Pastorius, was RSD 2014’s Official Film and a special Record Store Day exclusive version was released on DVD for Black Friday 2015, including a bonus CD featuring tracks from Trujillo himself.

About Metallica
Metallica formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield and have become one of the most influential and commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold over 110 million albums worldwide. They have scored several multi-platinum albums, including 1991’s Metallica (commonly referred to as “The Black Album”), which is the best selling album in the history of Soundscan, scanning over 16 million albums in the United States alone. Their latest studio album, Death Magnetic, was certified platinum and charted at #1 in 32 countries and sold five million copies worldwide. Metallica have nine Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, and multiple MTV Video Music Awards, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009. In 2013 the band released Metallica Through The Never, a music-driven 3D motion picture film. Later that year, Metallica performed a rare concert in Antarctica, earning the band a spot in the 60th Anniversary Edition of the Guinness Book of World Records as they became the first act to ever play all seven continents (all within a year). Earlier this year on the eve of Super Bowl 50, Metallica headlined CBS Radio’s The Night Before at AT&T Park in the band’s hometown of San Francisco, CA. The momentous event was filmed and made available to view online, receiving over One Million views in just a few days. In March 2016 Metallica’s seminal 1986 album Master of Puppets was added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress – selected as one of the 25 new sound recordings added to the registry of works that are “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” Metallica is the 2016 Record Store Day Ambassadors and on August 20th will headline the first rock concert at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, the new home of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings. They are currently in the studio working on a new album. For more information visit: www.metallica.com
