My Wild West is Lissie’s most self-reflective and personal work yet. Her life has come full circle: she left her native midwest to pursue her dream of being in Los Angeles a decade ago; and she has now returned to her roots in the middle of the country, buying a farm in a small Iowa town. The album sounds rawer and more from-the-heart than anything she has ever done.
Lissie says of the song, “California and the West Coast weren’t problematic and I certainly didn’t struggle. Like any life phase, they had their ups & downs, beautiful and challenging moments. Rather, I felt empowered that I could leave and get out, take off, demand a new adventure from life! The song is a plea to God or to a person or to whomever to hang in there with me while I figure it out!  There’s a line in the song ‘I left you on the coast for something only I can see’ and that’s just it. I have a personal vision and it may be hard for others to understand at times but I have to follow it!
My Wild West was recorded with producer Curt Schneider in his Studio City, California home. He oversaw the project as a whole, produced eight of the twelve tracks on the record, and pulled together the additional material from Lissie’s recording work with her band from sessions done in Ojai, California; and with Bill Reynolds in Nashville.
“Don’t You Give Up On Me” will be available as a single, as well as an instant-grat track when preordering My Wild West beginning this Friday, December 4.
