He will be joined by incredible musicians and voices of the salsa tradition. In fact, Tito Allen, Johnny Rodriguez, Jorge Reinaldo, Jimmy Bosch and Ricky Gonzalez have confirmed their participation. The importance of Orquesta Aragón to Cuban music is similar to that of the Duke Ellington Orchestra or the Count Basie Orchestra to American jazz. In the 1950s, Orquesta Aragón was signed to the American label RCA Victor, and found great success internationally spearheading the first wave of Cuban cha-cha-cha and mambo mania that captivated American audiences.
Orquesta Broadway is a Cuban charanga band that was founded in New York City in 1962 by flautist Eddy Zervigón and his brothers Rudy (violin) and Kelvin (piano) along with their neighbor Roberto Torres as their vocalist. Orquesta Broadway debuted in October 1963 at NYC’s Palladium concert hall. Orquesta Broadway continues to enjoy an enviable position at the forefront of Afro-Cuban and Latin music in the country.

Willie Rosario – Mr. Afinque! Timbalero makes his returned appearance at Lehman Center with a special guestTONY VEGA. Originally from Coamo, Puerto Rico he is another Salsa Legend with almost six decades of music!
In 1980, Tony Vega was doing a show with La Selecta and in the audience was another salsa bandleader, Willie Rosario. Rosario was impressed with Vega and invited him to join his band. He did and participated in many recordings, and from 1981 to 1986, he shared credits with a young singer by the name of Gilberto Santa Rosa. Vega also played an essential role in the recording of “La Nueva Cosecha” (The New Harvest) which was nominated for a Grammy Award. He stayed with Rosario for eight years.

Celebrating its 15th Anniversary, SHO, as they are known to fans, is dedicated to the sounds of the barrio. Their music is characterized by the raw, organic and vintage sound defined by the genre. They are on a mission to keep the musical legacy of salsa dura “hard salsa” alive and expand its audience to those who love great music, not just Latin music. Grounded in the past, while focused on the future, they strive to keep the music relevant, while creating a unique and fresh approach.
