In January 2016, deadmau5 (AKA Joel Zimmerman) spoke with the King Drew Magnet Golden Eagle School in Compton to Urban Fitness 911, a Los Angeles non-profit organization that was created to address the disparity of academic skills, health and fitness among teenagers and young adults in low income communities. 

Now, deadmau5 has launched a fundraising initiative in support of Urban Fitness 911 in partnership with CrowdRise, the largest crowd funding platform for good. Fans who donate or fundraise at crowdrise.com/deadmau5 will be entered to win a VIP trip to Firefly Music Festival to watch deadmau5 perform from side stage.
deadmau5 and his team have generously created momentum forUrban Fitness 911students, “I wanted to do something that would bring awareness to these kids and the struggles that they go through on a daily basis,” says deadmau5.
