La Musica International Chamber Music Festival Announces 33rd Season
“Truthful & Timeless” concerts April 8-17 at Sarasota Opera House

Sarasota, FL – The critically-acclaimed La Musica International Chamber Music Festival celebrates 33 seasons this year, with events from February 12 to April 17, 2019.

Four concerts will be held at the Sarasota Opera House, 61 N. Pineapple Avenue, Sarasota. Subscriptions to all four concerts are $160; single tickets are $45.

The Musicians

Joining Artistic Director Bruno Giuranna (violist) and Associate Artistic Director Derek Han (pianist) this season are violinists Federico Agostini, Marta Kowalczyk, Ruth Lenz; violist Daniel Palmizio; cellists Dmitri Atapine, Christine J. Lee; flutist Demarre McGill; harpist Ann Hobson Pilot; and soprano Catherine Wethington. Musicians making their La Musica debuts are Kowalczyk, Pilot and Wethington.

Open Rehearsals April 6-16

Rehearsals, held at Mildred Sainer Pavilion, New College of Florida, 5313 Bay Shore Road, Sarasota, are open to the public and offer the unique and intimate opportunity to discover how notes come together to form a musical masterpiece and how the musicians collaborate to make this happen. Rehearsals are free of charge for series subscribers, faculty and students; non-subscribers may purchase a pass to all rehearsals for $75 in advance, or daily passes for $15 at the door.

“Thoughts on Laps” Book Launch Party

Compiled by long-time program note author Daniel Avshalomov, “Thoughts on Laps” contains select notes from past La Musica programs. There will be a performance by Avshalomov (viola) and Derek Han (piano). Light refreshments will be served before and after the concert, and each guest will receive a signed copy of the book. Sarasota Yacht Club, 1100 John Ringling Blvd., Sarasota. $75 per person.

Musical Chefs Interactive Dinner

Hosted by Phil Mancini at Michael’s Wine Cellar, 1283 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. La Musica artists Dmitri Atapine and Federico Agostini, along with Michael’s On East’s Executive Chef Jamil Pineda, take turns leading guests in cooking demonstrations to prepare the evening’s multi-course meal. $200-$300 per person.

Friday, April 12, 5:30-7:00 p.m.

Meet the Musicians

Mingle with the musicians and enjoy a mini concert in the Dolphin Aviation hangar, 8191 N. Tamiami Trail #100, Sarasota. Wine and light bites are served. $30 per person.
