Philadelphia, PA, February 24, 2015 – Following the success of two sold-out December performances in of Terry Riley’s In C by the Aizuri Quartet, eighth blackbird, and the Curtis 20/21 Ensemble, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and the Curtis Institute of Music join forces again to redefine the traditional classical music experience. The Curtis 20/21 Ensemble returns to the Kimmel Center’s SEI Innovation Studio with an exciting new performance of Stravinksy’s A Soldier’s Tale on March 5 at 8 p.m.
Embracing an ever-growing trend of presenting classical music in a more casual environment, SEI Innovation Studio will be transformed into a social, club-style lounge with an up-close-and-personal performance promising a fresh take on a classical masterwork.
The mission of this unique collaboration is to break down barriers and ignite conversations and connections. Audiences get an innovative classical music experience and interact in a curated conversation with a giant social media screen. A complimentary drink will be offered with purchase of ticket.

Flexible in size and scope, the Curtis 20/21 Ensemble performs a wide range of music from the 20th and 21st centuries. The ensemble has appeared at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and Miller Theatre, and has collaborated with artists from eighth blackbird to Matthias Pintscher. Praised by the New York Times for its “passionate performances,” the ensemble has presented portrait concerts of iconic composers John Corigliano, George Crumb, Krzysztof Penderecki, and Steven Stucky. The ensemble will reinterpret Igor Stravinsky’s ageless morality fable A Soldier’s Tale, with English narration by Jacob Winterstein, a poet and performing artist based in Philadelphia. He is also the co-founder and co-host of a monthly event entitled The Pigeon Presents: The Philadelphia Poetry Slam.
