Kids visit MOSI free by creating their own paper plate planet, as Cardboard Space Adventures takes off!

Starting Memorial Day Weekend, kids can use their imaginations to get a free ticket to MOSI for a limited time and explore MOSI’s giant new summer experience.

Tampa, Florida — Families are in for a one-of-a-kind journey when MOSI’s new summer experience Cardboard Space Adventures launches this Saturday — and if kids bring a work of art to add to MOSI’s galactic art gallery, they’ll get to explore MOSI for free!

Kids 17 and under can design the planet of their dreams using a paper plate at home. Then, when they bring a parent and their planet masterpiece to MOSI between May 27 and June 30, they’ll get a free child’s ticket to the Museum of Science & Industry, including Cardboard Space Adventures. (See offer details below.)

Cardboard Space Adventures is all about imagination and creativity. When kids bring their paper plate planets to MOSI, we’ll put their planet masterpieces on display, so their creativity gets combined with more ideas from other kids. That gives us a whole galaxy of imaginary planets to discover,” said Johnny Scotello, MOSI’s Director of Exhibits.

Cardboard Space Adventures takes a child’s dream — to turn a simple box into an amazing imaginary spaceship — and brings it to life on a staggering scale. A cardboard space station and alien city tower over guests’ heads. Inside, families can help build a life-size space rover, play a giant Space Invasion video game using controllers made from cardboard, explore a massive maze, and more.

Covering a vast area inside Tampa’s Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI), the exhibit will stretch across far more than the 1,109 square feet needed to break the Guinness World Record for the largest cardboard sculpture ever built.

Major sponsors for Cardboard Space Adventures include Piedmont National and Leggett & Platt. The adventure begins May 27, 2017. MOSI plans to recycle all of the cardboard used in the exhibit, which ends August 13.
