The MuseBox today announced that Nashville’s Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden will release a moody new video for their hit single “Blue Hotel.”The video premieres today exclusively on Esquire.com. Miriam Bennett, the video’s director, also directed “Best Friends’Love.”With a sound compared to Metric, The National, and early U2, KT+SOS will embark on a summer tour following the nationally recognized Kickstarter campaign that helped fund their full-length The Shape The Color The Feel. According to TheEargazm.com, “Kate and her quartet have a gorgeous sound, characterized by ethereal vocals shrouded in twinkling keys, a pulsing rhythm, and icy, U2-esque guitars.”The Shape The Color The Feel is now available on 180-gram vinyl, CD, and digitally at KT+SOS’s official site.

In 2013, KT+SOS began what The Vinyl District called “an incredibly ambitious collaborative film and music venture”in which the band used Kickstarter to help fund The Shape The Color The Feel, a visual album featuring videos for each of the tracks on the record. The story of their unique project was highlighted in Huffington Post: “What I love about this project is that its aim is to blow it all back out. The idea here is to bring the visual and conceptual components back to music..”The entire project consists of ten music videos, three short films, a documentary, and a visual art exhibit that launched in Nashville and will move across the U.S. to Australia in 2015.

Earlier this year, KT+SOS unveiled the first video for “Blue Hotel,”directed by Tyler Evans. While Evans’video focused more on the melancholic stories of several distraught characters who checked in and out of a hotel, Bennett’s video features Tucker and her band as they perform the song that was the first they’d ever written together as a band. Bennett is quite familiar with KT+SOS, as she filmed a documentary on the band earlier this year. An accomplished American artist who grew up in Delaware, Seattle, and London, Bennett features her multimedia work and short films via Moving Studio Productions. Her work has shown with Tri-C Jazz Fest, Cleveland Museum of Art Vivia & Gala Performance Series, Scenarios USA, the Art Museum of the Americas in Washington, D.C., and the National Gallery of Victory in Melbourne.

The “Blue Hotel”single debuted on the limited edition Nashville Indie Spotlight compilation, out exclusively on iTunes. The song was handpicked for the release and accompanies exclusive tracks by other local favorites, including LEAGUES, Matthew Perryman Jones, and Katie Herzig. As a result, “Blue Hotel”is now in heavy rotation on Nashville’s Lightning 100 and The Shape The Color The Feel has charted CMJ and Triple A radio. According to Direct Current, KT+SOS tracks such as “Blue Hotel”feature“a newfound urgency. There’s no denying the rush of adrenaline that’s at the beating heart.”
