Jacaranda Boulevard work begins Monday

SARASOTA COUNTY – Jacaranda Boulevard traffic will be reduced to two lanes starting Monday, July 13, as a major construction project begins, according to Sarasota County Public Works staff.

The county has contracted with Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC for the Resurfacing Jacaranda Boulevard and Venice Gardens Water Treatment Plant Flow Control Phase 1 project.
The project includes resurfacing of Jacaranda Boulevard from north of U.S. 41 to south of Venice Avenue, and Woodmere Park Boulevard from Jacaranda Boulevard to U.S. 41. A portion of the project also includes utility waterline work, which will commence Monday.
During this utility work, Jacaranda Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes with flaggers on duty. There will be only one northbound and one southbound lane between Pine Forest Court and Squaw Valley Court. Minor delays can be expected, but residents will have access to their driveways at all times.

When the utility work has been completed, the resurfacing will begin.

Weather permitting, utility work will be complete by September, and the resurfacing will be complete by February 2016. Contract work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

In the interest of safety, motorists are asked to observe all posted speed limits and to use caution and watch out for heavy equipment, trucks and flagging operations when driving through the construction zone.
