With a business acumen welded to a post-World Cup fervor that only a European fan of the “Beautiful Game” can muster, Ambrish Piare, owner of the Ivory Lounge, needs no off-side rule to seek his goals.

Merely days away from the re-opening of the Ivory Lounge following an extensive revamp, Piare, originally from Utrecht, Holland, has every right to feel bullish about the future.

“Everything’s in place,” he said. “Everyone who comes to the club when it reopens will be impressed.”

With an opening night line-up including Miami’s Club Space resident DJ Mark M, the club’s shout out to Sarasota will be more than significant.

“I know my clientele,’ says Piare. “If I don’t keep them entertained, they’ll go elsewhere. We have a line-up of DJs for the remainder of the year that is totally hi-energy. People will always come to the Ivory and be treated with respect and entertained to the highest level.”

Using an analogy that would make the ultimate reality-show interior designer weep with joy, Piare says the Ivory’s makeover is no more complex than a weekend DIY makeover, albeit with a few twist and turns with the legalities.

“The paperwork has been difficult, but I’m past that problem now,” he said.

As for the practicalities of reconstruction, Piare’s take is a simple one.

“Do you move house just because your bathroom needs remodeling? No,” he said. “You simply redesign to suit your needs. And that’s what we’re doing at the Ivory. It’s an upgrade.”

And for those who may question his constant desire to reinvent, Piare brushes aside the naysayers.

“It’s still the Ivory,” he said. “It’s still the best club in Sarasota, but I can’t stand still. As a businessman, I’ll still be shaking everyone’s hand at the front door – I’ll always live up to that concept of welcoming those who want to be part of my dream. But I know I had to reinvent the Ivory. It’s like buying a new jacket. It’s the same concept, but with a different look.”

But with change comes a refusal to rest.

“I know there will be a time to change again,” admits Piare. “People get bored. They need a choice. I’ll be there for them.”
