HOTTING UP marks the band’s fourth full-length album and follow-up to 2013’s Automatic which helped propel their career to a new level. For the new music, IRATION put together a team of acclaimed collaborators including producer and co-writer David Manzoor (Lupe Fiasco, R. Kelly, Lloyd), Grammy Award-nominated mixer Mark Needham (Imagine Dragons, The Killers, Fleetwood Mac) and engineer Will Brierre (Imagine Dragons, Youngblood Hawk, Chris Isaak).
The first single “Reelin” premiered on San Diego’s 91X on April 27 and has since been spinning nationwide on various radio stations including Santa Barbara, CA’s KJEE, Honolulu, HI’s KUCD, and Wilmington, NC’s WRMR, among others. The track has also racked up over 500,000 spins on Soundcloud. “‘Reelin’ is the song we feel best encapsulates the direction of our sound on the new album,” lead singer/guitarist Micah Pueschel explains. “Big drums, hard-hitting bass and synth and rocking guitars. Turn it up in your stereo and let it work. Stoked for you to hear it!!”
A lyric video for “Reelin” was released earlier this week (8/19); check it out now here.
IRATION—Micah Pueschel (lead vocals/guitar), Adam Taylor (bass), Joseph Dickens (drums), Cayson Peterson (keyboard/synth), Micah Brown (guitar/vocals) and Joseph King (engineer)–has been burning up the festival scene this summer, with performances at SunFest, Big Guava, Reggae on the Block, Blaze N Glory, Hangout, Cali Roots, GoPro Mountain Games, Lake Tahoe Reggae Festival, The Beach at Mandalay Bay, OC Fair, Texas Showdown, Summer Meltdown and Outside Lands; still to come are Riot Fest Denver and Summer Ends Festival. Of their recent Outside Lands performance, SFBay.ca wrote “Their upbeat, reggae-rock mixed with their confident, easygoing stage presence makes the band as whole feel like an old friend. Playing favorites like ‘Summer Nights,’ ‘Back Around’ and the single ‘Reelin’ from their upcoming album, these high-energy Hawaiian rockers know how to work a crowd.” (8/8)
