JANELLE KROLL
RELEASES NEW SINGLE
“FVR”
TODAY (8/5) VIA LOKAL LEGEND
TRACK PREMIERES EXCLUSIVELY WITH HARPER’S BAZAAR
OUTSIDER EP DUE OUT THIS SEPTEMBER
“Kroll sings of the burning passions of a lost relationship, with her smoky yet ethereal vocals-which could rival Banks’-gliding over rhythmic, buoyant melodies and a stuck-in-your-head kind of hook…the perfect sentimental jam…It pulls at the heartstrings, yet you can’t help but turn up the volume and put it on repeat.”

Indie singer/songwriter JANELLE KROLL has returned with her much-anticipated first official release of 2016. Following an exclusive premiere with Harper’s Bazaar, “FVR” is now available everywhere via NYC-based indie label Lokal Legend and is currently spinning on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist. “FVR” marks the first new music released from JANELLE‘s forthcoming EP, Outsider, due out this September. The collection is further proof of her irrefutable gift to capture a spectrum of emotions: powerful and delicate, confident and vulnerable, beautiful and sexy, raw and sultry, earthly and ethereal. Everything springs from a singular style that veers left from indie music’s typical posturing. JANELLE coyly dubs her sound “dependent music” adding, “I sing about emotional dependencies.”

When asked to explain the inspiration for “FVR,” the Chicago-native now living in NYC can provide a simple response (“This song is a reflection of the happy couples I see walking down the streets of my neighborhood at 11am on Saturday morning”), however she’d rather answer in her own distinctive and visual way:

“FVR” was produced by Grammy award-winning songwriter/producer Brian Kierulf who has worked with 50 Cent, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Ricki-Lee, among many others.
Even before an official release of her own, JANELLE built an impressive resume, lending her inimitable vocal talents to several dance tracks such as Dennis Ferrer’s “Mind Ur Step,” Autograf’s “Metaphysical,“ and Moon Boots’ “Utopia” and in 2014, JANELLE went on tour with Big Data as lead vocalist. With the February 2015 release of “Sunny Days,“ JANELLE formally introduced her soulful pop, bright harmonies and nocturnal R&B sound to the world. “Sunny Days” first debuted on Bullett Media and was widely praised on several highly regarded sites. Additionally, Spotify chose the track for its coveted New Music Playlist and it went Top 10 on both the hub’s U.S. Viral Chart and Global Viral Chart. Amidst the flurry of the release, JANELLE was invited to play Lollapalooza 2015. The track serves as a fitting gateway into her sultry and sensual delivery and towering dynamics.
Following the success of “Sunny Days,” JANELLE released “Numb,“ an original track that was featured on Saint Heron, which made note of “her flawless songwriting skills throughout the dreamy, pop-esque soundscapes,” and “Down To You (My Confidante),“ her airy take on the Joni Mitchell classic, of which Pigeons and Planes wrote, “Janelle Kroll has the right approach in mind on her cover…updating the original with a warm, electronic sound bed to match her sultry, twisting vocal.” Both releases were again added to Spotify’s New Music Playlist.
