INDIE POP TRIO AJR ON THE VERGE OF BREAKING OUT AS HIT SINGLE “I’M READY” IMPACTS AT TOP 40 RADIO

TOUR DATES CONFIRMED WITH LINDSEY STIRLING

April 9, 2014 – Emerging indie pop trio AJR is on the verge of becoming one of the biggest and brightest new bands of 2014 following the viral success of their hit single “I’m Ready,” an infectious track that has already sold over 100k units while its video has racked up over one million YouTube views. The single has received early support over the last several months from SiriusXM where it is in heavy rotation with over 100+ spins per week on “20 on 20” and “Hits1.” “I’m Ready” has only just impacted at Top 40 radio, with several early adds confirmed nationwide.

AJR will hit the road this summer, performing a handful of radio shows before embarking on a 4-week long tour in support of Lindsey Stirling. See below for details.

AJR’s New York-based Met brothers – Adam (bass/vocals), a 23-year old Columbia graduate, Ryan (guitar/piano/vocals), a bespectacled 20-year old Columbia student who serves as the band’s main songwriter, and Jack (vocals/guitar), the 16-year old lead vocalist and resident heartthrob – have seen a meteoric rise in the past year following the self-release of their debut EP. The Spongebob Squarepants-sampling track “I’m Ready” has taken on a life of its own, earning widespread acclaim, including that of NBC, who featured the song in their Olympic promos, and Billboard, who favorably compared the band to Beach Boys and Simon & Garfunkel (for the harmonies) and Fun. and Imagine Dragons (for the electro-pop influences).

Other early champions include VH1 “Big Morning Buzz,” iHeartRadio’s “Artist of the Month,” Myspace “Ones to Watch,” and New York Post, who lauds “Sticky-sweet pop melodies with vintage barber shop vocals [and] edgier electronic samples and ‘spokestep’ [aka dubstep breakdowns derived from vocals].” The band has opened shows for The Wanted, Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony and Hoodie Allen.

AJR, who recently struck a deal with Warner Bros. Records for a debut LP that will be out later this year, got their musical start busking in Central Park and Washington Square, singing Jackson 5 covers, and, later, their own material. They used their earnings to buy musical equipment which they set up in their parent’s living room, where they write, record and produce all of their own music to this day.
