DENVER – October 27, 2014 – Celebrate the magic of Queen with fans across the country when a special one-night event, “Queen Rock Montreal 1981,” is presented in select cinemas nationwide at 7 p.m. local time on November 24 by Fathom Events, More2Screen and Eagle Rock Entertainment. Heralded as one of Queen’s all-time best performances, the concert was recorded live at Montreal’s Forum on November 24 and 25, 1981. This concert marked the first time that a band had filmed an entire show in full cinema format 35mm, and the original footage has been re-mastered in digital Ultra HD with superb surround sound to create the best ever cinema event experience for Queen fans nationwide.
Showcasing a theatrical and brilliantly entertaining performance in its full pixel-sharp glory, the concert features many of the legendary rock band’s most iconic hits including “We Will Rock You,” “Killer Queen,” “Under Pressure,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “We Are The Champions,” “Another One Bites The Dust” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The follow-up to the award-winning Hungarian Rhapsody concert film, “Queen Rock Montreal 1981” is the ultimate big screen music event and is released on November 24 to mark this special Queen anniversary date.
Tickets for “Queen Rock Montreal 1981” are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. The event will be presented in nearly 300 select movie theaters around the country through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network. In November 1981, with “Under Pressure” topping the charts, Queen arrived in Montreal following their record-breaking tour of Latin America. These two performances in Montreal were the last to feature just the four original Queen band members. Thereafter there was a permanent keyboard player on stage with the band, right through to the final show on Aug 9th 1986. Throughout the band’s 40-year career, Queen set precedents in rock music that will never be equaled. With over 170 million global album sales, 18 #1 albums, 10 #1 DVDs, and more than 700 concerts performed in every corner of the world including their historic appearance at Live Aid, the story of Queen is one of the most remarkable in pop history.
Christine Costello, Managing Director, More2Screen comments, “Following on from the huge worldwide success of our first Queen theatrical release, Hungarian Rhapsody: Queen Live In Budapest, it’s fantastic to bring a second concert movie event from one of the world’s greatest bands to theaters across the U.S. Specially re-mastered for this big screen release, ‘Queen Rock Montreal 1981’ in Ultra HD will be the ultimate way for fans to enjoy what is often described as one of Queen’s all-time best performances.”
“This special Queen event will transport fans to Montreal for their extraordinary 1981 shows,” Kymberli Frueh-Owens, Fathom Events vice president, programming, said. “Being able to experience these incredible artists and history of hits performed on the big screen will be an exciting opportunity for old and new fans alike!”
